#Pindadaan @vaastavngo at Banganga Tank, Mumbai
Mumbai, October 2025— Vaastav Foundation, a Mumbai-based NGO working to highlight men’s issues, has announced that it will conduct a symbolic Pind Daan ceremony on 14th October 2025 at Banganga Tank, Walkeshwar, Malabar Hill. The ritual will represent the letting-go of men’s dead or irreparable marital relationships and the emotional burden associated with what the organisation refers to as “toxic feminism.”

The event is scheduled on Sarva Pitru Amavasya, the final day of Shraaddh (Pitru Paksha), traditionally observed to honour departed ancestors. Vaastav Foundation has been performing this symbolic ceremony annually following a resolution passed at the 11th Annual National Men’s Right Meet of the Save Indian Family NGO network.

Symbolic Pind Daan: A Therapeutic Ritual for Closure
In traditional Hindu practice, Pind Daan is offered for deceased ancestors as a way to bring spiritual closure and aid the departed soul’s onward journey. Vaastav Foundation adapts this concept metaphorically — not to mourn people, but to help men attain emotional closure from marriages that have ended in separation, divorce, or prolonged legal disputes.
According to Vaastav, many men continue to carry the “corpse of a dead relationship” emotionally for years, particularly when legal proceedings or judgments delay finality. The foundation states that men experiencing sudden marital breakdowns — often without what they perceive as fault from their side — face psychological distress and social pressure, especially when confronted with prolonged litigation or allegations arising from marital conflict.
The symbolic act of Pind Daan is meant to provide catharsis, helping men acknowledge the end of a relationship and allowing them to begin anew. The foundation notes that similar symbolic rituals are sometimes carried out even within families — for example, when a person considers a relationship irreparably severed.

Addressing ‘Toxic Feminism’
Alongside marital closure, Vaastav Foundation says it will also symbolically perform the “Pind Daan of Toxic Feminism.” The organisation distinguishes this from feminism as a movement for equality, describing “toxic feminism” as a phenomenon that, in their view, promotes gynocentrism, female domination, or discrimination against men.
The foundation states that the ritual is not directed against women, but against what it perceives as harmful social trends that adversely affect men’s lives and rights.

Does the Ritual Hold Religious Significance?
Vaastav clarifies that this version of Pind Daan is not religious in nature, although it mirrors the structure of the original ritual. They emphasise that Hindu scripture does not sanction divorce, leaving many religiously inclined men feeling that their marriages remain unresolved in a spiritual sense even when they have ended legally. The ceremony aims to provide emotional transition and a sense of spiritual or psychological finality.
