Amit Deshpande is a men’s rights activist based in Mumbai, India, dedicated to promoting gender equality and addressing issues affecting men. He is the founder and president of the Vaastav Foundation, a non-governmental organization focusing on the well-being of boys and men.
With a background in engineering, Amit has been actively involved in social activism since 2011. Through the Vaastav Foundation, he has initiated various programs, including a suicide helpline exclusively for men (8882 498 498) and weekly counseling sessions in Mumbai to support men facing false legal accusations and mental health challenges.
Amit has also delivered talks at institutions like the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and participated in public events such as the Mumbai Marathon to raise awareness about men’s issues. His TEDx talk titled “Need for Men’s Rights” further highlights his advocacy for gender equality.
In addition to his activism, Amit has been featured in various media outlets, discussing topics such as male suicides, domestic violence against men, and the misuse of legal provisions.
