THE GONE GIRLS OF INDIA
I saw the motion picture Gone Girl by David Fincher some 2 month ago. The film is riveting in narrative, in music and the performances of the lead are outstanding especially Rosamund Pike as Amy “Gone Girl” Dunn. The movie is about a married couple who are dragging their relation for their own selfish reasons and waiting for perfect getaway from marriage.
On The day of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne returns home to find that his wife Amy is missing. Her disappearance receives heavy press coverage. Suspicions arise that Nick murdered her, and his awkward behavior is interpreted by the media as characteristic of a Sociopath.
It is revealed that Amy, after discovering his affair, planned to frame Nick for her murder by ingratiating herself into local life, faking her pregnancy, and fabricating a diary describing her fear of her husband. By using the clues of a game she plays with him on their anniversary, she ensures he visits various places that she has planted evidence against him for the police to find. She has changed her appearance and name and is hiding in a distant campground, believing Nick will be convicted and executed for her murder, and is contemplating committing suicide after his conviction.
After Nick’s mistress, a student of his, reveals their affair at a press conference, he appears on a talk show to apologize for his failures as a husband in the hope of luring Amy, swearing he is not a murderer. His performance improves his public image and rekindles Amy’s feelings for him. She inflicts injuries on herself to make it appear as though Desi one of her former lovers kidnapped and abused her. She then seduces Desi and kills him during sex by slitting his throat with a box cutter, then returns home covered in blood, naming Desi as her captor and rapist.
Amy tells Nick the truth,
Nick intends to leave Amy and expose her lies, but Amy reveals that she is pregnant, having artificially inseminated herself with Nick’s sperm stored at a fertility clinic. Nick doubts the child is his and says he will undertake a paternity test.
Nick reacts violently to Amy’s insistence that they remain married, but feels responsible for the child. Despite Margo’s objections, he reluctantly decides to stay with Amy. The “happy” couple announces on television that they are expecting a baby.
In the movie Amy plans in the most exacting manner to wreak havoc and vengeance on Nick to the extent that she draws blood from her own body and splatters the same on kitchen floor and creates an impression of botched up attempt of cleaning up the scene. The movie also shows how media jumps and grabs every opportunity to malign and defame men by starting their own trial and instill hate against men and how finally a man falls into this trap.
The movie reminds about splurge of false cases in India about murders of women by husband, in laws, lovers or even acquaintances only to be found alive at later stages. Cases where women disappear all of a sudden and than their parents or other relatives approach the police, the investigation is hardly carried out. In some cases even bodies were produced before police, but police did not verify whether that was actually the Gone Girl.
Following news links describe in how most sinister of manners these Gone girls of India planned decimation of lives of their husbands, lovers or in laws.

The worrying aspect of all these news items is the missing presumption of innocence. Accused are arrested immediately and no investigation is carried out to ascertain the grave charges of murder or dowry deaths. There is no follow up about what police did against the people who falsely implicated innocents in criminal cases and prolonged and protracted trials. The media also jumps the bandwagon and starts it’s own trial further maligning and defaming the innocents.
The loss of reputation, harassment meted out to innocents is never taken into account and is never compensated for by state who drags them in cases and thereby putting shackles on their freedom. The state happily indulges in violating the fundamental constitutional rights of it’s own citizens and wastes enormous resources in perusing these cases of Gone Girls.
